African Youth SDGs Summit

 Introduction

Youth are a major force for the implementation of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development and key agents for social change, economic growth and technological innovation. Following the adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the AU Agenda 2063, Youth Advocates Ghana and its partners launched the African Youth SDGs Summit in 2017.

The African Youth SDGs Summit is a Pan-African forum that connects the youth in Africa to learn about the SDGs and Agenda 2063 and to empower them to actively contribute to its implementation, monitoring and accountability. The Summit, since its inception, has witnessed consistent growth, relevance and credibility among youth and youth-related organizations, civil society, development partners, the UN System, State actors, policy makers, local governments, and the private sector in Africa. The Summit has evolved to become an important multi-stakeholder platform with focus on young people and their roles in achieving SDG Targets.

Past Host Countries

With the underlying principle to develop the Summit into an annually country rotating convention to maximize the inclusion and participation of African youth from across the continent and beyond, the African Youth SDGs Summit has been hosted in Ghana (2017,2018,2020), Ethiopia (2022) and in Zambia (2023).
